2018 The Year Of Growth

Here we are going into my third year of business and I felt it was important to take the time to reflect on the past year. I am starting it off right here on a platform that I hope to share so much more with you on in the coming year.

Since the moment the ball dropped on 2018, momentum had started. My first year of business ran off of word of mouth. Most of the work I produced came from connections I had made through the years or people I had met along the way. But once 2018 started, organic inquiries started coming in and coming in fast. It was so nice to connect with new business owners who I didn’t know and forge amazing working relationships with.

In 2018 I introduced two new services, Brand Building and Website Design and Development. Both of which rounded out my offerings in a really successful way.

Brand Building focuses on laying out a sold brand foundation, which allows you to have clarity in what you are offering to your clients. By building a solid brand upon that foundation, it allows you to know who you are and who you are serving. Two of my all-star clients I worked with in Brand Building were Interior Design and Renovation expert Teri Moore of T.Moore Home and Interior Design and Styling expert Sara Raak of SKG Designs and Style. Both were able to put the wheels in motion to leave their full-time jobs and make their passion their new career. I was beyond proud!

Website Design and Development was something I had hoped for so long to add to the roster since it was the logical next step after Brand Development. I partnered with an amazing friend and Developer who brought my custom Squarespace website designs to life. Whether you are a product or service based business, having a solid custom website that clearly communicates your business in a user friend experience is key!

FAVORITE PROJECTS OF 2018

Work ranged from small ETSY shop businesses to an organization that was rebranding to celebrate their 60 Year Anniversary.

GEMS Girls’ Clubs is a faith based girls organization who mentor girls in finding their place in the world, allowing them to feel LOVED.

Mari Pillmore is a Charlotte based Wedding photographer who was looking to establish her professional presence online. We built a brand aesthetic that spoke to who she was as a wedding photographer and also to the type of clients she was trying to reach in her area. Mari’s website had custom SEO built into the structure and for easy viewing access for her mobile clients, a custom mobile optimize site.

Found + Collected Designs by Sara Ramirez is an Interior E-Design service based in Southern California. Sara was looking for an updated brand aesthetic that showcased her style and approach to modern home design.

BIG WINS OF 2018

Wins are celebrated around here, and given the recognition they deserve! This year I was excited to be invited to speak at The Love Union, a retreat for New York City wedding industry professionals to co-work, learn and play. I spoke on ‘Branding your Business with Intention and Clarity’ and was excited to learn it was the highest attended workshop that week!

I was also asked to appear on one of New York City’s best wedding photographers, Jaine Kershner of Brklyn View Photography, podcast Tea with Jaine, where we spoke about branding your business to stand out in a crowd.

Finally one of my scariest wins of the year was being asked to model for Fabletics! Being a curvy girl, my first reaction was, “ME?”. After some hefty pep talks from my girlfriends, I accepted and shot three months of product with them. Their new initiative is to show real women of all sizes in their clothes. I will say their clothes do not disappoint (as I sit here in a cozy fabletics sweatshirt right now), they are high quality and comfortable.

FAVORITE MOMENTS OF 2018

Finally to round out, here are two of my favorite moments of the year. Number one has to go to meeting up with my #creativeclique in Palm Springs for Alt Summit. It was the first time for many of us to meet in person (we met through Instagram!) and we had a great trip, getting to know each other, learning and having fun.

Second moment goes to my partnership with Valspar Paints! Pure Wow reached out to me in the fall asking if I would be interested in working with them on a national paint brands campaign. I didn’t know what I was in for and boy was it a ride! Shooting 2 spots for them with a full film crew in my apartment was so much fun! Take a look at our final product below.

As I enter into 2019, I only hope to grow and provide you all with new services, inspiration and resources for building your own businesses online and enhancing your visual brand presence.

Cheers to year three!
